Like its neighbor, The Hippodrome, Sidecar is a breath of fresh air on the West Side. It's hip without being pretentious and classy without being stuffy. In other words, it's cool. And fun. And cool and fun is a combination that works for us.

Think of Bedrock Billiards as the laid-back uncle who wore suits with wild colors to weddings but somehow pulled it off. It was probably his attitude - constant, utter coolness - that let him get away with almost anything.

Bedrock has an astounding selection of liquor and beer, including The Brewer's Art's Birdhouse and Brooklyn Brown Ale. There are also plenty of creative, candy-like, non-martini cocktails, and specials on Ravens' game days. The owners are renovating the space next door to add a kitchen, so Bedrock will soon be serving food. (Think pizza and other lite fare.)

...seven pool tables, soaring faux-tin ceilings, sleek modern furniture and lighting, and 14 beers on tap. But still, the place has a certain collegiate charm to it. It's a lot brighter and more inviting than most pool halls, but if you need cozier surroundings, there's always the basement, with its own bar, painted brick, dart boards, another couple pool tables, and even two shuffleboard tables.
